MGS-450 Refrigerant Detector

The Bacharach MGS-450 refrigerant detector can be used as a stand-alone device for detecting refrigerant gases (freons) or connected to a multi-channel control unit. It is a gas detector with alarm relays that can handle a refrigeration unit, a buzzer for alarm reporting, and 4-20 mA and MODBUS outputs for connection to a control system.

  • Detection of many refrigerant gases
  • Temperature-compensated measurements for improved immunity to false alarms
  • 3 relays (low, high, and fault alarms), 4-20 mA output and MODBUS
  • Device set-up on the MGS-400 mobile application
  • Complies with refrigeration standards (ASHRAE 15 & EN 378)
Additional information

The MGS-450 refrigerant transmitter detects a wide range of refrigerant gases such as HFO (R1234yf or R1234ze), HFC (R134A, R407C, R410), HCFC (R22, R401a, R409a), hydrocarbons (CH4, LPG), NH3, CO2 and O2 (detection of oxygen deficiency in the presence of nitrogen).

It is a stand-alone gas detector specifically suitable for air-conditioning systems control and monitoring, cold rooms, heat pumps, etc. It can also withstand low temperatures down to -40°C. The temperature-compensated measurements reduce false alarms and optimise the accuracy of the device.

It contains three relays (low, high, and fault alarms) for control (sirens and signals, solenoid valves, etc.), a 4-20 mA output for connection to a gas detection controller, and a MODBUS output for connection to an MGS408 control unit or a supervision PLC.

The MGS-400 mobile app - available for Android and iOS - allows users to interface via Bluetooth® with the MGS-450 for easy commissioning and maintenance without specialised tools. For calibration, periodic checks, or gas testing of gas detectors, we offer a wide range of calibration gases in disposable cylinders that meet the ISO6142 standard.
